ALIBI (FICTION)

This is a disturbing piece of fiction that I wrote recently.
It is supposed to be in the genre of dark humour.
It has certain bizarre and intended uses of violence.
Do read it and give in your views, but note you have been warned.

  1. The story is written well and not like the unintelligible(not sure if this is the right word) 'concept boundary'(it was written to be outside the boundary). The thoughts are really good and looking into the future very well.Cyber was a interesting character.I like the way how u narrated people reacting at different situations.Ex:'His wife stared at him as if ashamed at the imbecility of the whole thing
and kept nibbling nonchalantly, also stuffing some bits into her son's mouth, now and
then'.RFID tag stuff was good.Anti-Radio helmet + mobiles at 2025 doesn't seem good.At such an advanced age people should be wearing nothing extra. But overall the story is not strong'Kahani mein Dum nahi hai'.Looking forward for a very dumdaar story.Wonderful narration, language and the style. No complaints at all.

  2. I didn't find this disturbing at all and I don't think it falls in the category of dark humour, maybe in the supernatural; I can relate this to the film "Omen".

  3. Amrut: I understand what you mean by 'dum nahi hai' I too felt the same. I guess its an effect - as I was trying my hand at an alternate genre for the first time ...

Sandeep: Supernatural? But I did not mean it to be so ... ! It is bizarre but supposed to convey the bizarre life that people lead nowadays.

Thanks - should improve on that.

Sandeep: How was it related to 'Omen' ? I have not seen it ...

  5. Gregory Peck is the ambassador to the United States who's wife has a stillborn child. Without her knowledge, he substitutes another baby as theirs. A few years go by, and then grisly deaths begin to happen. The child's nanny hangs herself and a priest is speared to death in a freak accident. It turns out the child is the son of Satan and can only be killed with the seven daggers of Meggado.

IIMB PGSEM SOP Essays.

The IIMB PGSEM application for 2008 had a SOP section which required 5 short essays to be written. Here are the ones I had written: Statement of Purpose How do you see the PGSEM helping you in your goals? (150 words) My taking up the PGSEM course has twin objectives, namely, self-development and learning all aspects of setting up, managing a commercial/social enterprise. Having worked in the software industry for five years, I have closely seen the software development life-cycle. However, there are several aspects of business and the economy that are of interest to me and I find the time ripe to explore these in a formal way, through academics; specifically strategic management of a firm, innovation strategies, and the scope of strategic consulting. DNA newspaper plagiarizes my photographs!

The newspaper DNA (Daily News and Analysis - http://www.dnaindia.com/bangalore ) seems to have involved in not verifying its sources of photographs and having used my photographs (does this amount to plagiarism? I think it does) after it carried some of my pictures in the 'After Hrs' section of its newspaper on 31st January 2009, which I had taken at the IIMB Yamini 2009. It is good that they covered the event but they should have cited/verified the sources of the photographs. In all probability they or their sources just picked up the photos from my blog, with the belief that no one would notice anyways - seems they could not escape as luck would have it, I spotted them in the DNA paper on Saturday. It was early in the morning when as I flipped open the last page of the supplement that I was stunned to see my pics, which I was able to recognize immediately - however there were no credits anywhere in sight! Please check the photos below from the e-paper version on their website
